Get to Know Our Teacher of the Year, Ms. Jamie Holman!

While this is only Ms. Jamie Holman’s third year at Banoak, she has been in education for 18 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Lenoir-Rhyne University and has taught in North Carolina and Georgia. She was at Shepherd Elementary in Mooresville for nine years before joining us at Banoak.

Ms. Holman shares that she “became an educator because I loved music so much I wanted to share that with others and help lead children into their own experiences with music.” Of being chosen as Teacher of the Year, Ms. Holman says that the honor means so much to her, “especially this year with the pandemic. We have all worked together to truly be the village to raise a child. I'm thankful that my part of that effort has been recognized.”

Ms. Holman grew up in Maiden and values small town ideals and ways of life. She feels that teaching in Vale allows her “to continue to reach her potential and students by being a part of the same kind of community she grew up in.”  She says, “I enjoy the friendships, support, and priorities Banoak and its community bring.  I look forward to many more years with my Banoak family.”

Congratulations to Ms. Holman on being named our 2020-2021 Banoak Teacher of the Year! Thank you for all you do for Banoak and for helping our Chargers develop a love of music!
