Dear Banoak Family,

As we “Charge Forward” into this year, we will strive toward success with academic rigor. While we will continue to use iReady as a reading resource tool in the classroom, Catawba County has implemented a new program called Edmentum. This program will continue to provide our teachers with data, and place students on individual learning paths throughout the year. I’m excited to see this program in action! We will also continue to use Second Steps to promote positive character development. I believe both character development and academics play a pivotal role in the lives of our students.

Last year we were fortunate to start several big improvement projects going into the school year. CCS has completed the repairs and updates to all of our retaining walls and fencing. We are also continuing to revamp our outdoor eating area beside the cafeteria. This year we will be placing umbrellas at each table so our students can enjoy some shade when using this space. Finally, the CCS Maintenance department has started our basketball goal project, and we anxiously await its completion. I know the students will be excited to use the goals during recess!
